A few years ago I bumped into an old friend on Saltburn pier. We played in bands together in the late 1980s and he was also a former student of my artist uncle John Carter. We lost touch for decades during which time he had worked his way up to the position of coordinator at the fashion house Paul Smith of Nottingham. Our re-acquiantance led directly to my working as freelance 'painting technician' for Paul Smith Jeans. I am given almost finished designs from their office in Nottingham which I then render in acrylic paint on paper. The images are used on designer t-shirts and are sold worldwide.
